Do Re... ME!

A joyful, hands-on introduction to the wonderful world of classical music and beyond

The Do, Re….ME! Pre-instrumental program is a one of a kind program with a curriculum designed to introduce young children to the fundamentals of classical music in a fun and age appropriate way. A true intro to classical music - rhythm, musical terminology, tempo, dynamics, articulation, composers, instrument families of the orchestra – explored through original songs, well–loved nursery rhymes, coordination games, finger plays and live instrument demos. The class helps build confidence, develops fine and gross motor ability, and social skills. Through repetition, imitation, sharing, taking turns and lots of praise and encouragement, the aural, verbal, physical, social, listening and mental skills of the children will be enhanced. Parents and caregivers participate and enjoy this exciting class along with their child, sharing an enthusiasm for learning and experiencing the joys of making music together!

There’s a reason that classical music is still around, hundreds of years after it was written! The benefits of being exposed to classical music, at any age, are numerous. Research shows that learning the do-re-mis can help children develop abilities way beyond the basic ABC’s. In the highly imaginative and educational Do Re… ME! classes you and your child(ren) experience the joys of music learning together. This unique program will:

  • Improve sound discrimination and fine motor tasks

  • Increase self-expression, cognitive abilities, language development and agility

  • Stimulate both halves of the brain – the analytical left brain and the artistic right brain - affecting a child’s overall cognitive development

  • Improve abilities in non-music learning and tasks

  • Create a positive influence on the body’s overall energy levels, heart rhythm and emotional state

Above all, in Do Re… ME! classes, children and their caregivers FEEL HAPPY!

The THEME for the FALL SESSION is:

🎶 The MAGICAL MUSICAL FOREST🐾

A joyful, interactive class for ages 1–4! Come explore the musical world of animals through the magical lens of animal-themed activities, original songs and classical compositions by Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Vivaldi and more! 🐒🎵🦁

CAREGIVER-and-ME Class

For CHILDREN AGES 1 - 4 and their GROWN-UP

8-WEEK FALL SESSION: October 8 through November 26

CLASSES take place on WEDNESDAYS in the CHAPEL ROOM at the following time:

WEDNESDAYS:

  • 10 - 10:45am

All classes require one adult guardian to attend, supervise, and participate in music making with their child/ren. Siblings are permitted only if registered in the same class
