Do Re... ME!

A one-of-a-kind music program

The Do, Re….ME! Pre-instrumental program is a one of a kind program with a curriculum designed to introduce young children to the fundamentals of classical music in a fun and age appropriate way. A true intro to classical music - rhythm, musical terminology, tempo, dynamics, articulation, composers, instrument families of the orchestra – explored through original songs, well–loved nursery rhymes, coordination games, finger plays and live instrument demos. The class helps build confidence, develops fine and gross motor ability, and social skills. Through repetition, imitation, sharing, taking turns and lots of praise and encouragement, the aural, verbal, physical, social, listening and mental skills of the children will be enhanced. Parents and caregivers participate and enjoy this exciting class along with their child, sharing an enthusiasm for learning and experiencing the joys of making music together!

group cello classes

The goal of these classes is to give our cello students, particularly those who take private lessons only, an opportunity to meet and make music with other young cellists without the weekly structure and commitment of a Suzuki, or Traditional, Music Program. Scale and technique work, note reading, music theory and history, and, of course, playing pieces together will take place during the classes. There will be 5 sessions in the Winter/Spring term, taking place on Sunday afternoons at the Trinity St. Paul’s Centre located at 427 Bloor Street West (just west of Spadina). The first 4 session dates will be divided into 4 separate class levels/times (see below for timings and room location). The final class, on June 2, we will combine the classes for a performance party and culmination of the term’s work, which will take place in the DANCE STUDIO from 3 – 5pm.
